Job Title:                              Agriculture Officer

Working Area:                      Tharparkar, Tando Allahyar, Matiari and                                                     Mirpur Khas Districts

Reporting to:                         Program Coordinator

Project Title:                         Growth for Rural Advancement and                                                         Sustainable Progress (GRASP)

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

1. Qualifications and Experience

  • Masters in Agriculture with major in horticulture from HEC recognized agriculture university.
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in the field of handling similar projects and programs in the agriculture sector, especially programs being implemented with Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises.

 

2. Job Purpose

  • The Agriculture Officer will lead the agricultural component of the project as technical lead. The position holder will plan, execute and ensure quality and timely implementation of the agriculture related activities under the GRASP project.

 

3. Knowledge, Skills & Behavior

  • Good understanding about agriculture sector in Sindh and coordination requirements.
  • In-depth understanding of agriculture sector in Project area.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in community mobilization.
  • Knowledge of Agri-business/ Business Management an added value.
  • Experience working within complex organizational structures
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills; Good resource and time management skills
  • Computer literate, knowledge of MS Word and Excel required
  • Willingness to travel frequently

 

4. Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Introduce the overall program concept, approach, methodology and Program components to have a long-term vision of the program in Agriculture sector.
  • Identification and selection of local Business Interest Group Organization (BIOs) /CRPs/ Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEs), Producers/Farmers, women entrepreneurs in Horticulture sector.
  • Make plan of implementation for all the agriculture related activities of the project in consultation with Program Coordinator.
  • Lead the orientation and awareness programs though the development of rural micro, small and medium sized enterprises(MSMEs) in Horticulture.
  • Develop specifications/criteria for beneficiaries’/sites selection for agriculture related activities.
  • Develop feasibility of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Horticulture.
  • Develop business cases of Farmer Market Collectives (FMCs) in Horticulture.
  • Coordinate with district agriculture department and finalize technical specifications and implementation strategies of agriculture related initiatives of the project.
  • To guide the project team and stakeholders on Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Agriculture.
  • Develop specifications/criteria for beneficiary’s/sites selection for agriculture related activities.
  • Prepare progress/activity reports and submit to line manager
  • Perform any other official task assigned by the Supervisor.
