Job Description

                      Job Title:                      WASH Officer

Working Station:        Mirpur Khas

Reporting to:              Project Coordinator

Project title:               Integrated multi-sectoral humanitarian assistance to flood affected communities in Pakistan.

 

Position Requirements:

  1. Mandatory (Qualification and Experience)
    1. Graduate from HEC recognized National University.
    2. At least 02 years of experience in emergency and relief projects, particularly in the WASH department.
  2. Main Responsibilities

The WASH Officer will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain close coordination with the Local Government Department at the district level, to build synergies with their programme and seek their support for programme implementation.
  • Facilitate key training events especially the training of trainers at the district level and community level.
  • Facilitate Orientation of district-level stakeholders (Local Government) about their role in the project
  • Facilitate WASH-related capacity-building events and activities under Project particularly.
  • Build the capacity of field teams to facilitate mapping of available water resources/courses through a sanitary survey to determine safe water sources, and hazards to drinking water sources and Identify the villages where water schemes (boreholes/ hand pumps) are to be constructed/ rehabilitated.
  • Build the capacity of project stakeholders to implement, monitor and evaluate WASH interventions.
  • To liaise and coordinate for the smooth implementation of the WASH activities at community level
  • Represent organization at WASH forums at District level 
  • Undertake field visits and provide technical assistance for field teams in seeking support from District Coordination Committees and Nutrition coordinators for effective implementation of relevant component
  • Coordination with WASH sector partners to seek their technical advice for program implementation.

  • Any other assignment given by Manager/Supervisor.
  1. Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour
    • Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis and production of reports
    • Proven Microsoft skills,
    • Good written and verbal communication.
    • Good resource and time management skills.
    • Willingness to travel frequently.
    • Understanding of Core Humanitarian Standards.
    • Understanding of Humanitarian Charters.
    • Understanding of Sphere Standards.
