 Job Title: Livelihood Officer

Project Title: Strengthening food security resilience of small holder farmers by adapting climate change through multi-level approaches of District Umerkot of Sindh Province in Pakistan.

Location:                      TRDP- District Office Umerkot

 

Job Purpose

The Livelihood Officer will lead the livelihood component of the project as technical lead. The position holder will plan, execute and ensure quality and timely implementation of the livelihoods related activities under the project.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory (Qualifications and Experience)

  • Masters in the field of social sciences/sociology/business/entrepreneurship or any discipline related to community-based livelihoods enhancements, from any HEC recognized university.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of working in livelihoods sector, especially programs being implemented with small growers.

Knowledge, Skills & Behavior

  • Good understanding about livelihoods sector in Sindh.
  • In-depth understanding of livelihood options in desert area of District Umerkot.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in community mobilization and adult learning.
  • In-depth knowledge of climate change adaptation approaches and resilient livelihoods approaches.
  • Knowledge of food and nutrition security and livelihood programming.
  • Experience of working within complex organizational structures
  •  Possess excellent interpersonal skills; Good resource and time management skills
  • Computer literate, knowledge of MS Word and Excel required
  •  Willingness to travel frequently

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Make plan of implementation for all the livelihood related activities of the project in consultation with the line manager and the monitoring unit.
  • Lead the orientation and awareness programs for communities in the villages
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders and finalize technical specifications/BoQs and implementation strategies for livelihoods related initiatives of the project.
  • Inform the line manager about resources and the support required for execution of livelihoods related activities.
  • Be resource person to guide the project team and stakeholders on resilient livelihoods approaches.
  • Develop specifications/criteria for beneficiaries/sites selection for livelihoods related activities.
  • Prepare progress/activity reports and submit to line manager
  • Adhere to TRDP policies
  • Be passionate to perform the additional roles if given by the management.
